My name is Cherish Qualls, PhD and I love teaching Engineering courses! As a matter of fact, I left my career in the defense industry to return to the classroom.

The confusion, the frustration, the feeling that I would never figure out the material and that maybe I was in over my head.

If you’re like I was, you’re perfectly capable of doing well in Engineering.  You just need to have the right kind of instructor with the right kind of teaching style.

Theory-based courses with useless examples were the worst for me.  Because of that, I developed courses that are light on theory and heavy on applications and examples.

Instead of dwelling on derivation of complex theories, I concentrate on problem solving skills and working through problems.

Once a student can apply a theory to develop a solution, I know true learning and success have happened.
